Hello From Rev. Cooper

Hello!

I am so excited to introduce myself! My name is Rev. Emily Cooper and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at Heritage. I am a native Pittsburgher who grew up just around the corner from the church. I was baptized Presbyterian, raised Episcopalian, then rejoined the Presbyterian church in high school. I am a graduate of North Allegheny and went on to get my B.A. in Religion from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. I attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (PTS) where I received a M.T.S. and M. Div. equivalency.

I worked in the business world for a decade or so while running from my call to ministry. Eventually, I eased back into church work as the Director of Children and Family Ministries at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church in Glenshaw. It was not long after I started at Elfinwild that my sense of call got the best of me. I finally finished my master’s degree at PTS and entered the wild world of ordained ministry. There is something so sacred about sharing the Holy moments of life with others and I take that honor very seriously.

I strongly believe that relationships are the key to ministry. If we do not know each other how can we serve each other? I am looking forward to getting to know each member and friend of the congregation. In the coming months I will be reaching out to you all to try and set up a time to hear your stories. Please do not hesitate to contact me first. I genuinely enjoy spending time learning what makes people and places tick. These are, after all, the gifts God has given us to do His work in the world.

Jason, my husband of 17 years, and I live in Allison Park. Robby, our 7-year-old son, attends Burchfield Primary School in Shaler School District. As a family we enjoy swimming, hiking, and playing with our pets. We have a 7-month-old Golden Retriever named Sylvie and a large bunny named Eleven. The three of us are full of energy and excitement about joining you all. We cannot wait to meet you!

Blessings!
